I’ve had two experiences where my W4 Pro was a huge help. While I was out and about in the Czech Republic with my Thai girlfriend today, we ran into trouble with our rental car. I went to a specialist garage, but trying to explain everything to the mechanic was a struggle due to our limited English skills. I handed him a W4 Pro, and communication went perfectly. We got quick assistance and were able to continue our journey. And here’s a second example: I received a call informing me that I had to check out of my room that day. It was a mistake on my part, and there were several things that needed sorting out. That conversation would have been impossible to handle in Czech, but with the W4 Pro, it was no problem at all. I previously owned the M3, but the flow of conversation was constantly interrupted by having to press the button. Also, WhatsApp video calls weren't possible with it. That’s why I switched to the W4 Pro.
Back then, I really had to rely on using some English to communicate, which often led to misunderstandings.
Generally, everything is complicated when you can't hold a proper conversation in a country; you’re forced to rely on information from guidebooks. But I enjoy talking to locals in their native language. The conversations are much more relaxed and fun. You get to hear firsthand stories about the country—or handle things like checking into a hotel, asking about excursion spots, or ordering food.
For me, the most important feature was the video translation.
Since I love and respect people, I sometimes ask where they’re from. Okay, the first question is usually in English, and then I offer to continue the conversation in their native language. People are usually thrilled and ask about the device. The conversations feel more genuine and meaningful than if everyone were just struggling along in broken English.

❤️ When Words Weren’t Enough, Timekettle Helped Me Share My Heart There is one conversation I never imagined I would need Timekettle for—the conversation about my mom’s funeral. When my mom passed away, I had to explain to my husband what the funeral would mean and how we would say goodbye to her in Trinidad & Tobago. It wasn’t simply about translating words. I wanted him to truly understand the traditions, the emotions, the family gathering, the prayers, the music, and the way we come together to celebrate a life while grieving such a deep loss. With Timekettle, I was able to explain things to him more clearly, without constantly stopping to find the right words or worrying that something important was being lost in translation. It helped me share not only what was happening, but why it mattered so much to me and my family. That moment reminded me that communication is about so much more than language. Sometimes, it is about helping the person you love understand your heart, your culture, and your memories. Most translation apps require intentional speech: you speak because you want your words translated for someone else. When my Chinese girlfriend and I go shopping or sightseeing, the Timekettle W4 is tremendously helpful for that kind of communication. But what makes it truly special to me is something else: it also translates her spontaneous remarks—the things she exclaims when she is surprised, delighted or amazed. Those words are not primarily intended for me. She is simply speaking from the heart, sometimes almost mumbling to herself. The W4 gives me the privilege of sharing those unguarded thoughts and seeing the world through her eyes. Once, I invited her to try Dutch raw herring. Her shock and awe—her genuine horror at the cold, headless fish, which she described as looking as though it had fallen from the sky and broken apart—were priceless. On another occasion, we were taking a late-summer evening walk when the wind suddenly picked up. Through the W4, I heard her growing concern that the cool breeze might signal a thunderstorm before we reached home—even before she turned to me and suggested that we head back. And when we visited the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam and explored the enormous wooden replica of a historic Dutch sailing ship, I heard her wondering, with genuine amazement, how something so vast and heavy could possibly float. Moments like these allow me to appreciate not only her view of the world, but also the beautiful, slightly formal way in which she expresses her innermost thoughts. For me, that is the most remarkable thing about the Timekettle W4: it does more than translate our conversations. It lets me hear the spontaneous voice of someone I love.
